On this picture we can see 3 Emperor Penguin couples.
In each couple, a mate is carrying a chick between its legs, providing warmth an safety, inside a sort of pocket.
In the rightmost couple, one mate is waiting for the other to pass the chick to alternate the roles: fishing or taking care of the chick.
